My Quality Hero

Celebrating Extraordinary Everyday Quality Professionals Who Inspired And Changed The Lives Of Others

Vin DeJesus is my quality hero. While only a month into my first job as a quality engineer, a most unfortunate event thrust me into a position of leadership. As a young ASQ-certified quality engineer, I was prepared with book knowledge, but ill-prepared for the accompanying challenges. Even before major problems arose, Vin noticed and acted. He invested a great amount of time coaching me despite his corporate responsibilities.

He encouraged and challenged me to advocate for the customer and to take bold actions. He reinforced in me the paramount importance of reputation and integrity for quality professionals. Yet, his most enduring lesson was in his display of continual self-improvement. As we reflected on current reading and leadership interactions, I noticed the learning was not one way. We were both on the same journey to become better leaders and quality professionals—I just had more catching up to do.

  1. Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon everyday. It will always be helpful to read articles from other writers and use something from other sites.
